Best Beauty Trends for Busy Moms

Best Beauty Trends for Busy Moms

Feel like your eyes are puffier in the morning? Or, wonder what the current trends are in beauty? Well, you’ve come to right place. The days of piling on loads of foundational powder onto your face are over… out with the powder… in with the new dewy, luminous faces for both young and mature women.

I interviewed Marcus Geeter, former beauty contributor on ABC News in Chicago for his best beauty trends for busy moms. Again, I am all about eco beauty, easy yoga and healthy living tips. So, I wanted to take some time to get a few beauty ideas confirmed, locked and loaded for all of us.

Here is the 411 on Best Beauty Trends for busy Moms:

  • Make sure to have a good foundation for your face. Choose a good BB cream. Essentially, BB cream is a combination of layering or combined product with moisturizer, primer, foundation and SPF. Mix your foundation with a good 60 SPF for a great facial look for your day.
  • Illuminate the face with bronzers or liquid bronzers onto top corners of the cheeks and temples of your face. It will give you more a sun kissed appearance day or night.
  • Moisturize your lips. Many women have a dry powered lip as they mature. Cut that out. Go for the adding lip gloss on a daily basis. The days of matte lip are gone for now.

Here Are 5 Great Reasons To Grow Your Own Organic Strawberry Garden!

grow-strawberry-garden-top-5-health-reasons

Why it is a good idea to grow strawberries?

Are you a fan of juicy ripe strawberries? Do you believe in natural remedies for conditions like wrinkles? Do you know that many fruits are ridden with pesticides and require special handling to be safe for consumption? If you are not a fan of organic strawberries, you should be. Not only are they packed with antioxidants, each red fruit is a bona fide super food, too. Here are a few reasons to eat more organic strawberries… you can find them at most health food stores in the organic section.

Strawberries are an excellent source of antioxidants, Vitamin C and manganese. They are also a good source of dietary fiber, iodine and folate plus copper, potassium, biotin, phosphorus, magnesium, Vitamin B6 and Omega-3 Fatty Acid. As a word of caution, strawberries repeatedly come up on the dirty list because many mass farmers may add a small amount of pesticides to prevent pest infestations. As you know, pesticides are bad for you. So, either buy organic or grow your own garden if you have the space. They grow like weeds so I think you’ll be very pleased in a matter of a few months and find them over growing in 5 years, meaning you may need to prune the vines regularly. To start your garden, either build a garden table with 2×4 planks with metal mesh base or find shady dry soil in your back yard that faces east. Strawberries like shade during the afternoon. Buy 3-6 strawberry plants. Plant the strawberry planters inside 6-8 inch wells. Cover with remaining soil. Keep strawberries in the containers because it prevents the roots from intertwining with one another. Once planted, just water daily. For critters, put 1:4, water to vinegar ratio so that 1 cup of water to 4 cups of vinegar, in a water spray bottle. Spray once a day in the morning and plant marigold flowers around the perimeter of the garden.

5 Health Reasons to Grow Your Own Strawberry Garden

  1. Boost Immunity – One serving contains 51.5 mg of vitamin C about half of your daily requirement.
  2. Promote Eye Health – High doses of Vitamin C play an integral role in strengthening the human eye’s cornea and retina. Prevents cataracts from forming as well.
  3. Prevents Cancer – Vitamin C can help to prevent cancer. Antioxidants act like scavengers to free radicals and neutralize the negative effects on human cells.
  4. Keeps Wrinkle In Check – Researchers in Korea concluded elegiac acid visibly prevents collagen destruction and inflammatory responses. These are the two major factors in the development of wrinkles in women and men after continued exposure to skin damaging UV-B rays.
  5. Fight Bad Cholesterol – Strawberries contain ellagic and flavonoids which product antioxidant effect that can benefit heart health in various ways. It counteracts the effect ow low-density lipo protein or LDL bad cholesterol in the blood that cause plaque build up in the arteries.

In general, strawberries are the great addition to your diet on a daily basis but just make sure they are organic. So, eat up and have a summer garden fling with this red fruit of choice that is also a super food!!! Click here for a more health reasons to eat strawberries.

Yogashero Access: How did Bill Kurtis start his career in journalism?

bill-kurtisBill Kurtis was born on September 21, 1940 in Pensacola, Florida to Wilma Mary Horton and William Kuretich, a US Marine Corps brigadier general and decorated veteran of World War II. His birth name is William Horton Kuretich.

At the age of 16, Kurtis began working in radio at his local high school, Independence High School. Later, he graduated from high school and attended University of Kansas with a B.S. In journalism in 1962 and earned his law degree from Washburn University School of Law in 1966. While in law school, he worked part time as WIBW-TV in Topeka, Kansas. He decided not to pursue a career in law.

On June 8, 1966, Bill Kurtis was studying for the bar and decided to leave early to help a friend as anchor at WIBW-TV for the 6 o’clock news. Man, that was a big life-changing moment. Severe weather was approaching Topeka, so Kurtis stayed to update some weather reports. At 7:00pm, while on the air, a tornado was sighted by WIBW cameraman Ed Rutherfod. Within a minute another sighting was reported, Kurtis warned the apartment complex is wiped out. Kurtis’ abruptly reported, “ For God’s sake, take cover!” From that moment on, the broadcast team stayed on TV for 24 solid hours. His TV station became a communications hub for emergency operations. The experience forever changed Kurtis’ career path from law to broadcast news. Within a fast 3-months, after seeing his work covering the tornado, WBBM-TV in Chicago hired Kurtis which started his 30-year career with CBS.

Kurtis covered many historical, tumultuous years of the late 1960s including the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Robert Kennedy, 1968 violent Democratic National Convention, Charles Manson, Angela Davis trails and so much more.

Today, Kurtis covers documentary style shows such as American Justice, Cold Case Files, NPR’s Wait Wait Don’t Tell Me. All of this, after his long run as a revered anchor for CBS Morning News. In summary, just helping out a friend one night changed the trajectory of Bill Kurtis’ life from law to broadcast journalism. Who knew what a difference a day makes? 24 little hours…like the song!.

Be mindful of your experiences!

Lactose Free Fettuccine Alfredo before going into oven.

Lactose Free Fettuccine Alfredo before going into oven.

RECIPE FOR BAKED FETTICCINE ALFREDO! 😉

Are you lactose intolerant or have family members who get indigestion after eating heavy creams? Here’s a personal favorite recipe for Baked Fettuccine Alfredo that I wanted to share with all my dear friends who desire non-dairy foods and drinks. Lactose intolerance shows up in a variety of ways but the most common symptoms are bloating, gas and diarrhea. The most common treatment method is to simply avoid dairy foods rich with cream and milk. Others take the Lactaid products before eating but it’s really more effective to avoid the culprit altogether. The base for this recipe is Coconut Cream which you can find at most health food stores. It’s a delectable recipe that parents and kids alike enjoy.

Let’s start with this ingredient list:

16 0z- Coconut cream

1- Package of Fettucine Noodles – break in half bunches

1- Egg

12 ox- Grated Mozzarella

6 oz – Grated Parmesan

1 stick of butter or margarine

2 TBSP.  Garlic Powder

2 TBSP. Onion Powder

Top with Paprika and chives to garnish.

  1. Cook half of the coconut cream on low heat with onion powder and garlic.
  2. Constantly wisk in half of shredded parmesan and 1 stick of butter until melted for 15 minutes.
  3. In another large pot, bring pasta strips to a boil in water over high heat for 12 minutes and drain.
  4. Combine all ingredients to a large baking dish. You can add cooked broccoli and/or cooked cut chicken breasts.
  5. Bake for 1 hour at 350 degrees. Oven do vary so check to make sure pasta turns into a scuffle consistency.

Enjoy this rich, lactose-free pasta without all the worry of indigestion. Please sign up for our newsletter and free guides throughout the year.

ARE YOU DOWN FOR A FISH SPA PEDICURE?

Known primarily for its crystal blue waters eagerly viewed by couples only and spring break party goers alike, premier hotels in Cancun, Mexico now offer fish spas. The hotel, Grand Oasis SENS restaurant offers an unexpected twist on its services from the 🔘 blinded 😎 Blackhole restaurant experience where you cannot 👀 see your food to the magical Fish Spa Massage for your feet with REAL exotic fish from Turkey. Yes, the new fish spa trend has long taken a swim to the wellness side.  🐠

The benefits of experiencing a Fish Spa are surprisingly more effective than we think. Each fish spa treatments works to:

🐠 Exfoliate softly to remove dead cells.

🐠 Regenerates new skin cells.

🐠 Promotes blood circulation and facilitates healthier skin.

🐠  Create new layers of skin that is more shiny and smooth.

🐠 Rejuvenate skin through biology of the enzyme called dithranol.

Moreover, the fish aptly named the Dr. Fish or Garra Rufa, are even famous for its absorption of psoriasis, corns and bunions and even help with the disappearance of scar tissue. The fish produces a natural outcome of the enzyme, dithranol. Dithranol is an enzyme that is a natural protein used in tiny quantities by many living organisms. Enzymes are essential to life because they speed up metabolic reactions to very great extent, but do not undergo and change in themselves.

The major take-away is that it is essential that you first clean your feet and walk with clean slippers as to not contaminate the filtered water container when you begin the fish spa. The actual ticklish fish spa feels more like a micro massage as each fish likes to create a suction onto a tiny surface of your foot. Feels weird at first but when you realize, the little ones are not hurting you, you tend to relax as the time goes on and before you know it your spa time is up and the spa treatment is complete.

So, the next time you see Dr. Fish at the spa, you may want to let your feet take a healthy smooth low dive with the magical, beautifying fish!

Mystery Solved on Lemon Water with Cayenne Pepper

UnknownWe’ve all heard about the benefits of lemon water with cayenne pepper. Talk about a real lure for the natural remedy! Even the bombshell mega mogul entertainer, Beyonce has used the warm citrusy method for cleansing!

While I prefer cleanses, I stay away from radical cleanses and steer towards natural food cleanses. So, word up… I want detoxification through foods that naturally detox and cleanse the body. I’m talking the bomb (no pun intended) way to stay healthier and happier over the long run. ;D

The folks at my local Whole Foods say some folks cannot live without this natural remedy every morning. So, drinking a warm glass of fresh squeezed lemon juice with organic cayenne pepper water is a practice that they do every morning to help stimulate the body’s detoxification processes. So, I figured I might try this lemon pepper concoction.

This morning right after waking up, I shuffled downstairs to heat a cup of filtered water. I juiced half a lemon into a glass citrus reamer then I top off with a whooping ½ teaspoon of cayenne pepper. OPPS!! Then, I realized that this amount might not be just quite right so I emptied about ¾ of cup and started the process over again. This time, it was non-irradiated pepper perfection! So, I finished this detox drink with spicy pepper pleasure. And, I waited 15 minutes before I ate my breakfast!

Why are people drinking this spicy pepper pleasure drink? Seriously, lemon juice and cayenne pepper have a lot of anti-fungal, immune boosting and detoxifying properties.

Lemon is a natural detoxifier as Vitamin C transforms toxins into digestible particles. Moreover, the lemons offer many antioxidants and electrolytes including potassium, calcium and magnesium. Lemon is also know to stimulate the liver’s natural enzymes by helping to oxygenate the body. As a side benefit, the lemons helps to neutralized the body’s PH by making the body more alkaline. When your body is neutralized, it helps the body to recover from chronic illnesses.

Cayenne pepper stimulates circulatory system by opening the capillaries, aids digestion and help to regulate blood sugar. Furthermore, it jump starts your metabolism which will help with your weight loss program. In summary, good digestion is critical to having a healthy body so this drink is a great way to set the stage for a day of healthy digestion.
